SIANG TRUST CONDUCTS FREE HEALTH CAMP AT MILLANG VILLAGE
ABKK News, Kamarupa, Millang Village, Upper Siang, 12 September 2026
SIANG TRUST organised a Free Health Camp at Millang village in Upper Siang district on 12 September 2026, bringing essential healthcare services closer to the people in the remote village.
The medical team was led by Dr Saibal Bhattacharjee, JDHS (Retd.), and included Dr Runi Tasung, JDHS (Retd.), Dr Togram Tabing, Dental Surgeon, along with other supporting medical staff and volunteers of SIANG TRUST. Group Captain Mohonto Panging Pao, President, SIANG TRUST, personally liaised with the concerned authorities and supervised the camp.
More than 60 villagers, including elderly persons and children, availed themselves of the health services. The beneficiaries underwent medical examinations and were provided with medicines as required. Dr Otem Pertin, SMO and MO i/c, Mariyang, was also present and extended support to the camp.
As part of the health screening, blood pressure and blood sugar levels of the participants were checked. While most of the villagers were found to have normal blood pressure and blood sugar levels, a few cases of high blood pressure and diabetes were detected. The medical team advised the concerned individuals regarding appropriate treatment, regular monitoring and necessary lifestyle precautions.
During the camp, Dr Runi Tasung and Dr Pertin also sensitised the villagers about various Government health schemes and facilities available for the treatment and management of serious illnesses, including Tuberculosis (TB), cancer and kidney-related ailments requiring dialysis. The awareness session was particularly useful for villagers who may otherwise face difficulties in accessing information about such specialised healthcare services.
The health camp received an encouraging response from the local community. The villagers expressed their appreciation for the initiative of SIANG TRUST in taking essential healthcare services directly to the doorstep of people living in remote villages.
The initiative reflects the Trust’s continued commitment to community service, preventive healthcare and reaching underserved populations, particularly in areas where access to specialised medical facilities remains challenging.
The organisers expressed their gratitude to the medical professionals, supporting staff, volunteers and local authorities for their cooperation in making the camp successful.
