Pradesh Congress pays solemn tribute to Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika at Rajiv Bhawan

ABKK Kamarupa, Guwahati, September 2026: A solemn tribute ceremony was held this morning at Rajiv Bhawan, the headquarters of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) in Guwahati, to commemorate the globally acclaimed icon, Bharat Ratna, Sangeet Surya, Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. Party leaders garlanded the portrait of the legendary cultural icon and offered floral tributes, fondly remembering his timeless creations and humanist ideals.

Senior Congress leader and former MP Bolin Kuli lit the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. Following the lighting of the lamp, the assembled leaders and party workers took a collective pledge to keep alive Sudhakantha’s enduring message of harmony, unity, and humanity across society.

The memorial program witnessed active participation from Trishna Pegu Doley, Chairperson of the APCC Cultural Cell, along with office-bearers from various cells and departments of the Pradesh Congress, as well as leaders and members of the Guwahati City District Congress Committee.

Among others present were senior Congress leader Gunakanta Gogoi, senior Congress leader Balika Lahan Pegu, Mainajan Begum, Raja Das, and Rosonto Mazumdar, who all paid their profound respects to the revered cultural luminary.
